Key West Kids Sharking
March 30, 2010

Dave and Ethan Nijankin, David and David Fox Jr, Cassidy Fox, and German Foreign Exchange Student Paul Freihaut from Germany boarded the Lethal Weapon at Sunset Key this afternoon for a half day. The folks wanted action, and a fish for supper. I think we filled the order. We had non-stop action with Lane Snapper, Blue Runners, Grunts and Mackeral. None of the fish were big enough to eat and the pressure was on. Eleven year old Ethan got a bite on the #20 spinning rod, and battled a #300+ Nurse Shark around and around the deck for an hour before landing the behemouth. The fish was released at boatside after the photos. See a picture of Ethan fighting the Shark and a shot of the whole group in my photo gallery under "Current Guests". Soon after the huge Nurse Shark was released, one of the #30 spinners went off and an #80 Blacktip Shark started tailwalking across the horizon. Cassidy is only 16, but she went toe to toe with the jumping Blacktip for 15 minutes before we took the fish for the table. Here's a shot of Cassidy with her beautiful Blacktip. It was an awesome day of fishing on the Lethal Weapon with a lot of happy people at the end of the day. Tight Lines and Screaming Reels, Capt Ted
