Key West Deep-Dropping Fishing Report
April 9, 2010

Brian Savage from Naples met his buddies from Naperville, Illinois in Key West for two days of fishing on the Lethal Weapon with David and I. We trolled the color-change for a few miles and it was gorgeous but way too calm. We figured it out quickly and headed out to the ups and downs. I'm glad we did, as we did not pull a strike trolling. It took a few drops before we found the fish but find them we did. A thirty five pound Snowy Grouper fell victim followed soon by a ten ppound Gray Tilefish. The Tilefish is a deep water snapper living on the bottom in 600'. On our next drop we had a real nice fish on when something huge ate it. Doc fought the mystery fish for an hour and twenty minutes before he ripped off the hook. To add insult to injury, the monster ate the fish we were fighting! Tomorrow it's Sharking, and we'll do better. Tight Lines and Screaming Reels, Capt Ted
